Robust Acrylic Primer

Griplac Robust Acrylic Primer is a water based sealer recommended for use on both interior and exterior plastered walls, ceilings, plaster, brickwork and wall boards, enhancing the performance of top coat. It binds any powdery residue effectively to the surface providing a uniform substrate for painting.

Based on specially formulated acrylic it is designed to provide maximum protection against alkali and moisture.

Blocks out stains and odors Optimizes the surface, covers imperfections and seals pores.

BINDS PORES EFFECTIVELY

It binds any powdery residue effectively to the surface providing a uniform substrate for painting.

Surface Preparation

Bare Masonry Surfaces:

Allow all surfaces to dry completely prior to painting. Remove dirt, dust, grease, and any other contaminants. Smoothen the surface using suitable sand paper or sandstone. Dust off thoroughly. Avoid painting when the moisture content and alkalinity of the walls is still high. (Recommended painting specification requires the moisture content of the walls to be below 16% and alkalinity of the walls to be below pH9.)

Previously Painted Surfaces:

Remove unstable paint film, loose chalk by rubbing down using abrasive paper or wire brush and dust off thoroughly. Use Griplac Subtle Wall Filling to repair cracks if necessary. Masonry work is recommended to fill large cracks and holes. Allow to dry completely before applying Griplac Robust Acrylic Primer.

Application

DO NOT THIN.

Use product when air and surface temperature are 10-40°C. Do not use if rain or heavy dew is expected within 24 hours. Apply the first coat and then spread putty to get a smooth finish. Remove any dried putty from the applicator to achieve best performance.

Apply a second coat, if necessary. Maintain a wet edge to avoid lap marks. Do not re-spread or re-work immediately. Clean up equipment with water immediately after use.

 

Touch dry: 15-30min. (Dependent on temperature and humidity)

Hard dry: 1hr.

Coverage:   5-6 sq.m/kg/coat. (May vary depending on the substrate’s condition)
